New mattresses don't last as well as they used to. After replacing the orthopedic mattresses every 2-3 years ($1000+/- each), we decided to try a new method. We bought an old school reversible firm mattress with coil springs and bought a new mattress topper when needed. Because the foam was always the weak point. So far this method has worked well and saved us a few thousand. It's time to buy a new topper. I didn't want to spend $150-200 in a big store this time. I stumbled across this one and am so glad I picked it up. I have a partial rotator cuff tear and my husband has a bulging disc in his lower back, comfort in bed is essential. When those injuries start to hurt, we look for a new topper. I am happy to report that after two nights we no longer wake up with pain. This isn't our first topper, but I was very impressed with it. We opened it up and within 5 minutes it was completely fluffed up. Our last one lasted several hours. Another aspect I worry about when putting things in our bed is chemicals or outgassing. I sniffed this topper and the smell was very faint unlike my previous one which made my entire room smell like a chemical plant for days. For health-conscious people, chemicals (or lack thereof) are just as important as comfort. What also pleasantly surprised me is that this topper rests against the edge of the mattress. Our last one was a few inches short and narrow. Not a deal breaker, but it was nice that the company didn't save any money by shortening the topper. The quality and feel are the same if not better than the bigger stores where the prices are 2-3 times higher. Overall I am very very satisfied with this purchase.
