Simple, light and generates lots of heat

I used white gas stoves for decades before finally trying the gas stove. What a mistake I waited so long to try the canister cooker. I've been put off by reports that canister stoves aren't great for hiking because they don't handle the altitude well. And that they were terrible in the cold. These myths were actually true decades ago, before new fuel blends were developed to address these issues. So. Since trying my first canister stove a few years ago, I've probably amassed about a dozen different models. I haven't used this one very much yet, but here are my thoughts so far. BENEFITS - This little guy produces lots of flame and heat - The burner design does an excellent job of spreading the flame in a wide pattern to absorb wind and heat on the pot or pan - The base and bottom of the pot are wide and strong. Many camp stoves have a narrow base, making it difficult to balance a medium or large pot on them. There are no such problems here. The piezo ignition has been reliable and effective for me so far. The burner has a built-in windscreen. I love the simplicity of this oven. You simply unscrew the canister of isobutane, open the valve slightly, press the ignition button and the flame comes to life! It looks like there really isn't anything to back up on this record. Unlike my favorite decades ago, Whisperlite. which was prone to clogging, required extensive preparation and warm-up procedures before it worked well, and had to deal with filling and inflating white gas cylinders. Weaknesses: The rivets holding all pivot points together do not inspire confidence. . Time will tell how well they hold up.
