More helpful than I could have imagined!

Basics: Lightweight gloves that do what they're designed to do - surprisingly well. Perfect fit for my hand. I have long fingers and the gloves often don't quite fit, but these fit perfectly - stretched enough and fit as they should. As light as they are, they are also well built and should last a long time. Incredibly comfortable - after a few minutes I didn't even realize they were still on my hands. Good price! I've been knitting quilts for a few years now and have tried free hand sewing a few times. I've never been a fan of FMQ - assembly and design are my passion. I saw "professional" quilters using these gloves and I had a gift certificate so I decided to take a chance. I can't believe how big the difference between them is! I spent several hours last night making a simple square wave that I've never been able to do properly before. With these gloves my stitches were smooth and even, the fabric moved evenly without much effort. The last time I spent hours on FMQ, I spent days recovering from sore shoulders that came with the extra effort of juggling my "quilt sandwich" through the machine. With these gloves I was only in pain from being bent over in one position for hours - you gotta remember to get up and stretch more often! But today I have no pain at all. Oh, and don't be fooled by the "money-saving idea" of using standard knitted gloves with fabric dots to mimic the sticky texture and better grip on the fabric. I tried this a long time ago. They adhered better to the fabric but were HOT which made my hands sweaty and I had to take them off and on every time I needed to do something with the thread (stop/start, remove slack threads, change bobbins, etc.). .). With the Machingers gloves, I never had to take them off until I was done with the night and my hands weren't even getting a little warm. I could finally be a convert and create my own FMQ instead of constantly paying big bucks to have someone else do it for me. I can even use these gloves for appliquรฉ and other small jobs that require a little help moving the fabric. I would highly recommend anyone doing FMQ to get these gloves!

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No performance
