Mechanical replacement for 2018 Triumph Speedmaster

On the Triumph forums I follow I saw a mention that this light was a mechanical replacement for the stock headlight on 2018 and newer Speedmasters that required a metal tab to be bent slightly. I bought this and found it fit really well and couldn't figure out which bar to bend. However, from an electrical standpoint, I had to figure out which of the five wires that went to the stock headlight should go to the three that this light used. . That meant experimentation since I didn't have a schematic for the bike. Nothing complicated, spent a few hours not damaging anything. Also, I had to buy a three-wire adapter for a standard cord that had to be cut from a standard lamp and reused for it. So, let's drive with lights on at night. The low beam pattern is brighter and wider than the original. Also a bit uneven. I liked the lighter and wider pattern and was initially a bit concerned about the unevenness of the pattern. Now, after a few hours of night driving, I can't even see the bumps. The wider low beam pattern, which I didn't know I could get, makes it easier to turn at low speed. It didn't occur to me that having more light on each side would be beneficial. I got lucky! Clicking on the high beam will slightly smooth out the far part of the low beam pattern. The high beam is also narrower than stock, which is a plus. The broader pattern of the series light meant it over-illuminated distant street signs, and their reflectivity made them too bright, almost blinding, for me. This light doesn't do that at all. All in all I got a brighter light than what I bought it for and I have different radiation patterns which also make it better than standard. All is well.
