Box Grater, improved and updated

Preview: My wife and I are spending a lot more time cooking these days since restaurants are out of the question during quarantine, so we're upgrading our kitchen supplies. We had a very good, highly rated grater from Cuisinart. You can still find it here. But we don't like it, and this one was so well reviewed - across Revain and beyond - that we bought it. My wife used it once and loved it so we don't have much experience with it yet. But after unboxing and one-time use, this model replaces the knuckle-scratching stars of a traditional grater with grater-style graters like the Microplane. It gives a different result than the old-style grater, but in my opinion it's a huge improvement. The slicing knife on the side is almost like a mandolin (we have one and I'd still prefer to use a mandolin, but it works if you're in a hurry). The bottom attachment for grabbing whatever you've grated with the "ginger grater" on this attachment is a nice touch. I've considered swapping out one of our two Microplane graters, but this one does the same thing. I find the box grater form factor awkward and annoying, but this will work. All in all, it's like a belated update of an ordinary 19th-century kitchen tool.

Pros
  • The ridges also increase the length of each individual blade; More food is grated with each stroke
Cons
  • Weight
