Review on Nalgene 💧 OTF Everyday Water Bottle by Joe Taniguchi

My husband got me to buy a new water bottle after my last two started smelling and the locking mechanism broke. I wanted one that shields the mouthpiece from the environment, has a large opening at the top, and has a comfortable pen/finger grip. He was a fan of Nalgene so I tried this one. All in all, it fits the bill. After a few months of use my 2 biggest complaints are that I wanted to get fuzzy and that the locking mechanism isn't the most reliable. I'm easily distracted by the occasional bubble on the sides of a water bottle. My last few water bottles were purple so you could only see the waterline. I will buy a different color next time. The locking mechanism has a 30% chance of clicking when engaged. So you don't know if you pressed hard enough. To loosen and tighten the lid, I turn the latch against the underside of the lid. Sometimes it doesn't lock when turning. Then the metal double closure is difficult to put on and take off. A few things that took me getting used to was that my old water bottles had a good 1+ inch of plastic where the threads were. It had minimal buffer space, so it was more prone to spills if you filled it to the 24-ounce mark and weren't careful. This cap had only one orientation process (1 thread start position). My last water bottle had the option of a front and back cap with two thread start positions. It fits perfectly in cup holders and went through the top shelf of the dishwasher with no problems.
