Review on Enhanced Protection: Cobra DualPro 360° Radar Detector with Long Range and Intelligent GPS AutoLearn Technology by Sean Bouchard

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great radar detector! Worth every dollar!

My name is Carlos but on rdforum.com my name is Cobra Kai Since Cobra merged with Escort their once mediocre products have gotten much better. The Cobra DualPro 360 (which I'll call the DP360 for simplicity) has a chassis and overall design based on the Belltronics GT-360 and comes with some state of the art escorts' premium 360 degree detection -art- Database, filtering and MRCD detection. Overall, it's an excellent value at $399 to $450. I was given a range definition almost by Uniden but with much better filtering and when used in conjunction with a Cobra/Escorts app it really adds to the experience. The DP360 also didn't experience any I/O problems that can occur even with other RDs in this price range. Overall: I cannot fault this product, Cobra has a real winner. The only downside, and I mean the only downside, is that it doesn't come with a mini-USB cable, which is required for updates. Compared to some similarly priced radar detectors like: Uniden R7: Cobra has better filtering, Uniden has always lagged behind. In this area, DP 360 has Bluetooth, which R7 does not have, R7 does not have an app. The Cobra has a better mounting system and also less money. While the Uniden has a longer range, the DP360 has features the R7 lacks to make up for this with the Radenso Pro-M: the Cobra has 360 degree detection and has arrows to inform the user when in which direction the radar detection goes. while the Radenso has none of these and none of the applications. The Cobra appears to be a newer metal detector (it is) and the Pro-M itself is a great detector, it's almost 3 years old now. The range of the Pro-M is also shorter than that of the DP360. Parallel tests have shown that the DP360 outperforms it in every respect. Escort Max 360: My dad owns one of these and the DP360 is undeniably better in almost every way except for the settings. The Max 360 also has a K-Notch which reduces false positives, but I didn't have this problem with the DP360, it filters out false positives very well. The Max 360 is also more expensive and bulkier.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Negligible maintainability
