Purchased to drive a 1080p monitor from a higher end Asus UX501VW laptop. I was already using the HDMI video out on the side of the laptop but wanted to use a second external monitor with a DVI connector. Instead of looking for a USB 3.0 Type-A video adapter, I bought this one that uses a Thunderbolt 3 / USB 3.0/3.1 Type-C port. I didn't have to do anything to make it just work. No drivers, no fuss. I just plugged it in and everything worked. True to the hype, it feels relatively premium, and I think the Type-C connector and adapter body are aluminum, and if not, that's how it feels. They're the same color as my brushed aluminum laptop case, so I'm aesthetically pleased. The cable connecting the DVI adapter to the Type-C connector is a bit stiff, but I expect it will soften over time like computer cables usually do. It's also similar to a lot of factory Mac products, so anyone with a Mac laptop will likely love the aesthetics too. No flickering, I've used it with two different 1080p monitors and am happy so far. Good value for money. One of the cheapest products of this type that I have found. I will definitely buy it again and recommend it to everyone.
