Just what I need to keep my bikes out of the way in the garage. I assembled it today and it seems to be holding up. The pieces were easy to put together and the instructions were simple. I wouldn't call it "freestanding" as the individual pieces don't "interlock" in such a way that it forms a solid stand. The figures move a little; However, I used the included screw to secure it on top and feel it's strong enough now. I think two adult mountain bikes will fit (some reviews question this) with the handlebars facing opposite directions. I've used it on my husband's standard size mountain bike and my son's mountain bike (26" I think) and they both fit great. In general I am satisfied with the purchase. One star off as it's very wobbly when unsecured. However, I'm using it again in the garage, so the screw on top isn't aesthetically off-putting.
