I have 2 previous generation LaCie d2 with many options (Firewire, USB 3 etc.). I liked the first one and quickly bought the second one. I would be happy with a third, but this model has been discontinued. This is why I bought the 8TB d2 Professional as it offers excellent value for money. The latest incarnation is very impressive. It's so quiet, compact, fast, everything is secure including the cables and the way they fit perfectly into the USB port. (My MacPro doesn't have Thunderbolt). Within minutes it was up and running, partitioned and formatted to suit my needs. I will probably buy another one. The only caveat is that the newer models don't have an off switch, so they're always on. I can live with it.
