Case is for show only, drive is junk

Terrible drive, died in less than a month on standstill. I never write reviews but was so disappointed I thought this was going to be a quality trip. stick wd.

Not possible for Windows 10

After going through two days of procedures with LaCie documentation and much online research, I had to stop using the d2 professional on a new Windows 10 computer. The drive would not format and therefore never use it, and LaCie Toolkit never worked properly and often didn't recognize the drive even when Windows recognized it and asked for a format that Windows could never handle. LaCie support has been completely useless and many of the suggested procedures are not compatible with Windows 10…

Best and longest warranty and fastest speed except SSD

Very convenient; I can only hear it next to my ear. 5-year limited warranty and 5-year data recovery guarantee. Using XCopy/s I copied 54 39.65GB videos from the internal SSD with the following results: LaCie D2 Profissional 6TB: 2min 51sec - 232MB/s Glyph Black Box Pro 6TB : 4min 32 sec - 146 MB/s (7200 rpm drive) G-Drive Mobile USB-C 4TB: 7 min 37 sec - 87 MB/s (5400 rpm drive) No power button . However, the 24/7 MTBF is 31 years, so I see no reason to turn it off when not in use.

Works now but a mysterious problem with my calculator.

I bought this because I needed a RELIABLE 10TB hard drive to back up some old hard drives. I've only been buying LaCie external hard drives for 10 years, then I switched to Glyph brand hard drives (which have become some of the hottest in the industry), but recently Glyph changed their product line and after reading the reviews I read that the new Glyph drives aren't very good, so I went back to LaCie. The most important thing I would like to say about my new LaCie hard drive is that I bought…

Impression of external hard drives

I have 2 previous generation LaCie d2 with many options (Firewire, USB 3 etc.). I liked the first one and quickly bought the second one. I would be happy with a third, but this model has been discontinued. This is why I bought the 8TB d2 Professional as it offers excellent value for money. The latest incarnation is very impressive. It's so quiet, compact, fast, everything is secure including the cables and the way they fit perfectly into the USB port. (My MacPro doesn't have Thunderbolt)…

only lasted one day

Got a 10 TB hard drive version two days ago. Hooked it up yesterday and it works as it should. Formatted it for my computer and started transferring all personal and business information onto the drive. I woke up this morning to the message that the disk was not ejected properly. The drive could not be powered on again. I spent most of the day trying to figure out why. I couldn't find any suitable cables; just a tad smaller than any other adapter you may have laying around. I thought it was a…

The struggle to make it work properly.

I bought this drive as a fast USB 3.0 drive to add to my wife's 2.5TB photo library to save on our iMAC with internal storage 3 TV drive. The operating system and other document files began to fill the entire 3TB drive. So I bought a cheaper 5TB drive to copy my Apple Photo Library to, but it was too slow. Apple Photos wasn't very responsive. This LACIE D2 Professional drive is much faster. The 2.5TB Apple Photo Library copied from the main drive to the Lacie drive about 1/3 times faster than a

Another crappy Seagate product, LaCie, is just a name now.

I used to buy Lacie drives all the time and had no problems with them until Seagate's lousy quality and customer service completely changed the company. I've had a couple of Lacie drives that broke and because Seagate said I damaged the drive during the trip, they refused to honor the warranty. That was some years ago. Fast forward to this year when I thought, hmm, I'll try them again. I bought one of these little guys for a project and everything has been fine since July, although not as…

Good drive but not easy to set up

Backups of my important files are stored on multiple SSDs . I figured it would be easier to consolidate the backups onto a larger mechanical drive, so I looked for an external mechanical drive that was reliable and had decent performance. I read the reviews for LaCie and Glyph - it was obvious that Mac users had issues, but there were some issues for Windows users as well. The problems with 8TB and 10TB drives seemed more severe. I have ordered two 4TB LaCie d2 Professional Hard Drives. Drives…
