Review on MasterJack: The Ultimate Professional Hardwood Flooring Jack Positioning Tool by Tim Rios

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great help laying the floor!

When I first made a wooden floor I decided it was worth buying for $40. I already had a pull that I used for laminate, but this tool gives you the ability to lock parts in place, which (in my experience) is a HUGE benefit when working with hardwood. After just one job, it was definitely worth it. This tool makes it easy to set warped boards in place and hold each board in place while nailing. This is particularly useful when driving nails from the front as the boards can move before the nail is driven. It's also good that the mechanism has a bit of play, so you can snap it between the standard clasps. Like others, I've found the jack to be difficult to loosen at times. Pushing the handle all the way forward *should* release the support, but it didn't always do that. The nut holding the handle was also loose. Build quality could definitely be better, but it's cheap and it works. I'm not sure I would pay more for a similar tool that didn't have these issues. They just weren't that big of a problem.

Pros
  • floor jack
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
