We live in a condo with a lot of doors being held shut with these ball catches. I had a lot of trouble finding an exact replacement for ours. The darn ball would not stay in the holder and there was no way to fix it. I tried several hardware stores but could not find the right ball catch that would replace the kind I had. To make this one fit, I removed the ball catch from the sleeve that it was in. It slides right out. As it is now shorter that what I needed, I placed about 5 pennies in the base of the old holder which was still in the closet door. The bought the new ball catch up to the height I needed to catch in the strike plate. Now it works perfectly.
