This is a great little toy for my kids and we have found us using it in a variety of ways around the home. From swim time to little experiments to rainy days, these are really cool little balls that expand a lot when put in water for a period of time. They are very large compared to the very small ones I've used in the past, but I have a caveat. Since there are SMALL and LARGE beads in this set, the SMALL ones are larger than most I've used. But the BIG ones don't expand in the same proportion and almost seem like a bunch of smaller ones that are somehow connected to each other, so they are very different from the ones in the picture and I didn't manage to make them as big as the picture . Not only are the large ones not as big as in the photo (or I just have huge hands), they also don't stretch as much as the larger version of the small ones. They look like clusters of very small, strange bunches of grapes that are somehow connected. But as a little experiment and as something to do with kids, we had a lot of fun with them. Definitely a great little stocking toy or science-based experimental toy.
