This product appeared to be profitable. (ONLY 1 RAM SLOT) PLEASE NOTE: First of all, deceive. RAM Advertised at 2400 MHz: with misleading descriptions, ratings and answers. The first thing you should know is that after contacting ASUS, there are two possible motherboard configurations: one with 4GB soldered RAM paired with 4GB SODIMMs, and a configuration without onboard RAM and one with 8GB SODIMMs. I bought an extra RAM stick hoping to upgrade it to 12GB, only to find out I had an MB configuration that NOBODY WAS TALKING ABOUT. into the slot, making the update redundant. I then decided to install CPU-Z to see what the lag was. I've found the laptop to run a little slower than I expected when it's off the charger, so let's move on. The only reason anyone BUYS a laptop is for mobile use and therefore expect full performance away from a charger. Plug. Anyway, I noticed some issues with the RAM while installing CPU-Z. First, when plugged in, it's been clocked at its native 1866MHz BEFORE doing anything that requires an extra boost. At this point, the RAM is increased to the advertised 2400MHz. Second, I checked with the cable unplugged to find that the RAM was running at a HORRIBLE 800MHz. An ASUS spokesman said that this is an expected feature and not a defect. What's worse, I know how RAM modules work. A single SODIMM consumes so little power that reducing its speed to the equivalent speed of a mid-range DDR2 module is unacceptable! Another factory implementation of the throttling method that makes people who bought a PC at a bargain price regret that they made the right decision. WORSE: This model has a Ryzen 5 processor. MEANING: Less RAM = worse CPU performance. So RAM running at 1/3 the advertised speed (2400MHz is just OK for RAM in the first place), a RAM slot with no dual channel capability, and a CPU running slower resulting in this PC in range runs from $150 to $200 when not connected to a charger.
