I may have a different version than others but my sharpener is rechargeable and doesn't need to be plugged into an outlet just to charge. I love this feature. I use pencils for a lot of woodwork. I always try to find a sharp pencil to mark, but for some reason I leave it everywhere I can't find it. I'm going to get a new pencil and it's dull and useless! While my wife had other suggestions for me, I bought this sharpener to stay close to my wood shop. A big plus for me was the battery, which means I don't always have to keep it near an outlet.
