I don't like Apple products because of Apple's ridiculous limitations, but I need to use my iPad to access my company's navigation suite. The iPad Pro has a built-in GPS receiver, but it is very insensitive and cannot be used in flight. I bought a Bad Elf GPS Pro+ to get around this problem. The A-330 (like many jet aircraft) has a heated windshield with a metal foil that significantly weakens the GPS signal. Unfortunately, the Bad Elf receiver appears to be only slightly more sensitive than the iPad. Unless the Bad Elf is pressed firmly against the window (hanging it from a headset hook on a stand, or placing it in a tray on a sash window will not work) it will not hold the locked position and will even press against the glass from time to time Time. loses position, it sometimes takes a long time to regain it. That kind of performance might be okay if Airbus windshields are causing major signal issues for all GPS receivers, but while my Bad Elf is uselessly searching for satellites, I can pick up Take out my Galaxy S7 and it's more than 1000 miles from the last location Turn it on and get a 3D fix with your phone from almost anywhere in the cockpit, typically within 20 seconds. Unfortunately, Apple's crippled Bluetooth doesn't allow me to use location from my phone. Bad Elf's only function is to provide GPS data. For its premium price, it should be able to do this at least as well as the phone's GPS.
