Review on πŸ“» Retevis H-777 Walkie Talkies Long Range Hand Free Handheld Rechargeable Two Way Radio for Adults - Business 2 Way Radios with USB Charger (Pack of 6) by Sam Bhushan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Buyers, be careful - the frequencies are different from the previous version!

I am a volunteer CTO for a nonprofit and previously purchased a 6 band charger with 6 old radios and then a five layer pack of individual charger spares strategically placed throughout the facility for easy replacement for them when someone dies. A few days before Veterans Day we realized we needed more so I hopped on the Revain mobile, found them (same model number and same radio picture as previously ordered) and bought them, thinking they were all interchangeable. . Imagine my surprise when I opened the box and found this new style of radio and also found that the frequencies on the channels were completely different! Our channels were already assigned to different teams and we all needed to communicate with each other, but with this new style that wasn't possible. Luckily I bought a different brand programming cable and found it worked with these so I downloaded the programming software from Retevis and was able to clone the old programming onto the new radios. If I didn't have this cable, we couldn't communicate. Also note that these radios do not use the FCC approved standard FRS/GMRS/MURS frequencies. You may be fined for using factory programmed radios. I highly recommend buying a programming cable and reprogramming these radios to match the frequency and becoming familiar with FRS/GMRS/MURS for anyone using them. Obtain a GMRS license from the FCC ($7 per year for 10 years, for use by your immediate family, not for business use).
