As advertised. This is a cheap and easy solution. I've moved and now live in a small space, so now I use the TV in my bedroom as a computer monitor as well. One of my desktop is VGA but my TV is a new smart TV that doesn't support VGA only HDMI. I didn't want to change the graphics card so I tried that and it works. For video or surveillance: USB mic to device and other end to computer standard USB port, VGA from computer to device and HDMI cable to device, other end to TV. It has an audio input which I didn't use until recently. I plugged one end of the computer audio cable into the computer speaker jack and the other end into the device, and the audio was sent to the TV speakers through the HDMI cable. I don't use this computer often, but when I did I could not detect any lag between the picture on the TV and the corresponding sound. Put simply, he does what he says. I highly recommend!
