I bought this adapter to output 4K/60 (3840 x 2160 at 60Hz) from my 5th gen i5 NUC to my TV because the HDMI output is only v1. 4 (4K/30) which makes mouse movements look *horrid*. However, it took a little while to get it working because out of the box it still only worked in 4K/30. I had to use the Intel Graphics Control Panel to create a custom resolution of 4K@60Hz **AND ALSO** set the video timing to _CVT-RB_. (If I hadn't set the time as such, the dialog would report an error that there wasn't enough bandwidth for that resolution and refresh rate.) This made it work fine. It's only been running for a day, but I'll let you know if anything changes. Update: -1 star for Windows Media Center Playready component which it doesn't recognize during the HDCP process and prevents viewing live content (with CableCard device) and recorded content with DRM. Update (December 2020): This unit was kept by me for some years and I just broke it to output video from a 2017 surface to an external monitor's HDMI port. The monitor immediately set to 4K/60 in Windows 10 with no issues. I tested Netflix and Prime Video and had no problems. I added that fifth star because it works so well and it seems petty to penalize this product for WMC's shortcomings.
