Review on Aitoh Yuzen Washi Chiyogami Origami Paper: Vibrant 4x4-Inch Sheets - 40 Pack by Carrie Spencer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The quality is remarkable to my inexperienced eyes and hands though.

I think this is great origami paper. I have folded different types of paper (very cheap, very thin, tears easily, almost plastic long strips for folding paper stars, regular medium quality paper) but this is probably my favorite type of folding paper. These squares are smaller than the more common origami paper found at arts and craft stores, but they're not as difficult to fold. Again, the quality is excellent - it feels like a mix of paper and fabric, so it definitely doesn't tear easily. But as other reviewers have said, between each sheet of washi paper is a thinner, unpatterned sheet. Maybe it's meant to protect washi paper, maybe not, but it feels nice to the touch (with a slight washi feel - a mix of washi paper and regular thin origami paper), so I use those sheets too. It's great for folding - not as pretty as patterned sheets, but much better than "barrel bottom" origami paper. And here's the "but". It's just a matter of personal taste, but I find the patterns on these sheets unusually rich, maybe a bit garish, and not very pleasing to my eyes. I've uploaded an image so you can see more of what I'm talking about. To each his own and such. If I had known what I was buying I would have looked further but I am still very happy with my purchase.

Pros
  • MINGEI WASHI - 20 sheets and YUZEN CHIYOGAMI - 20 sheets.
