I gave this low stars in some places. let me explain. The texture of this mat is rough. There are rough little fibers through it. Not like stab you in the foot, but just rough. For me, that’s what I wanted because I bought a ruggable rug with no mat. So I bought this in hopes that they would stick together and, they do. It was not a 5x8 but a 5x9. no biggie. We trimmed it down. The thickness of the mat is good and provides the cushion I was looking for. All in all, I got this for 1/8 of the price it would have costed to get the ruggable mat. The bottom has a nice gripping material to it and it stays pretty well in place. So, all in all, this is a great mat for the price and for what I needed it to be. If you have an expensive, silk rug, don’t buy this mat. But this would work great on any synthetic/wool rug with a backing.
