Purchased in September 2015 to keep our newly adopted puppy off our furniture (at the time we weren't sure if she would break through our furniture if we left her alone). The goal did a great job. But then again, we have a 25-pound Chihuahua mix, so we don't need a massive, solid gate to keep them in check. Now we have taken care of my friend's 40 pound shepherd's cross who was having serious problems with thunderstorms. During a storm, he panicked a lot, constantly jumping and leaning against the gate. I'm happy to say he's never knocked over a goal. Somehow he managed to jump over the gate. I don't know exactly how, I must have used some secret parkour skill or something to handle it. In terms of durability, it meets my requirements. I don't see any problem with durability. Of course we don't have kids pulling poles and knocking on gates so I haven't seen any problems yet. If I do I will probably update this review. In terms of performance, I like the old version better. The old version was probably a bit easier to open with one hand. I've now read several complaints that it takes two hands to open this gate. It's not true, just watch my video. You can open it with one hand and it's not that heavy. It can take some getting used to, but not impossible as some reviews suggest. The main disadvantage I see operating these gates is that they only open in one direction. The old version of the gate opened in both directions, which was very convenient. However, make sure that the gate opens in the desired direction. Don't doubt yourself when installing, because it's difficult to undo and turn everything. Installing the gate wasn't difficult, but it wasn't very easy either. You'll have to unscrew those side rails quite a bit to close the gap between the gate latch and the post. And the farther it goes, the harder it is to turn, so be prepared to put some fat in there. Once you make the gap small enough for the gate to snap and stay secure, it's guaranteed to be strong. One recommendation: Buy and use "Wall Savers for Pressure Gates" if you can (pressure gates put a lot of point pressure on your walls). If you don't do this, you can damage the wall. In my case the hole was too narrow for the wall brackets so the hold down brackets were resting right against the wall. It didn't damage the wall, but the paint was peeling off. To prevent this from happening again I cut a piece of tissue box and placed it between the hold down and the wall. In summary, as my title suggests, this gate does the trick, at least for me. As I mentioned, the real main downside is that it only opens in one direction. Well, if you have dogs that weigh 70 pounds or more that need to be kept in check, not sure if they can handle it. I believe it should be, just need to tighten the pressure supports a bit.
