I have been using this thread for over a decade. I found that when I bought a smaller amount from the grocery store, it sometimes tended to break while brushing my teeth. The grocery store dropped the really long spools in favor of the brand name, so I came to Revain to get what I wanted. I don't know why anyone would buy a 50 yard spool. Do you really plan to stop flossing anytime soon? I think this is the only way to justify a shorter length when buying. The coil may seize up once or twice in the life of the product, but this is easy to fix and only takes a few seconds to get it working again. Open the top cover, turn the spool end by end, and reassemble. Otherwise, neither I nor my dental hygienist have any complaints. Yesterday I brushed my teeth, very quickly and without problems. He does what he has to do. I didn't rate thickness or transparency. Thickness preference is an individual thing and I've heard different things from different dentists. It works, so good enough for me. Transparency? I'm not sure how this could apply.
