My 1998 5.7L GMC 1500 engine had a slight twitch. Not bad enough to really notice unless you're really trying to notice. After replacing the ignition coil, it runs smoother than before. Now I could only imagine it idling smoother than before, but it was preventive maintenance anyway. I still have the original spool that came with the truck. One way to find out is if you still have the rivets that attach the coil to the ignition control module. I had to drill out the shaft which was very easy if you have a sharp drill and then they supply a nut and bolt. I would suggest putting some blue Loctite on the screws to keep them from loosening in the future.
