Safety Issue: NOT totally safe for outdoor use - poor design

Wow! Always read the "fine print”. Of course, the outdoor LED light tube part seems to be well-designed and safe. However, "the controller box (infrared receiver) and power supply are not waterproof and need to be GOOD protected." To be fair, the description says it in the fine print. However, this very "feature" does NOT make these lights "outdoor safe" (unless you plug in indoors or purchase additional weather protection). Also, I'm an electrical engineer and I can tell you that the wiring to the controller box and the wiring from the controller box to the connector is very thin (i.e. flimsy) and looks like it was done by a freshman engineering student. Adding to the safety concerns is that the (very) flimsy wiring to and from the controller box has bare wire. So if you reach for the controller even when it's not raining or bad weather, you can change the "lighting mode" if you bang your hand on that bare wire and electrocute yourself. To be fair, I'm not sure if this is just a quality assurance issue with the bulbs I received or if this is a common thing. In any case, the microfine wiring used (much less durable than a standard indoor power cord) certainly poses potential safety issues. I can't imagine why the manufacturer chose such an unfortunate and unsafe design. There are other, safer options.
