This was the perfect carrier for my cat on her first long journey. The extension allowed me to attach a tiny tray so I didn't have to worry about her being uncomfortable. The many zipper holes helped me reach her from different angles to pet her, pick up trash, or give her water on a trip, and she wouldn't run away. When it came time to carry it to the hotel room, I simply pulled the tray out of the extender, folded the extender, zipped it up, and then placed it on my back. The cat didn't have to move. Much easier to carry than a traditional padded shoulder strap. The zips were very reassuring that it wouldn't slip out of the carrier, especially when used as a backpack. However, I have a suggestion for the designer. The lining that goes into the main compartment should be made of more durable wood or plastic (it's made of durable, durable cardboard), fully covered with a waterproof case, and a soft case should have a zipper or Velcro that can be removed for washing . .My cat skipped the litter box and after trying to clean this pad, even with an enzymatic cleaner, it smelled awful. Before throwing it, I cut it open along the edge to see that the cardboard had soaked up the urine (and the detergent I was trying to clean with) and had to be thrown away. I put the cover in the washing machine and it came out nice and clean. Now I have to design and build what I was hoping the original designer had in mind. You lose one star due to the poor design of the support pad. For the price I expected better quality. Otherwise the carrier is great.
