Review on iVention Lab Execution System (iLES) by Todd Mohr

iLES allows us to use our own versioning system for lab execution protocols and other documents. It also has a great commenting function for users to add notes to protocols. There are some minor bugs that make it difficult to see which protocol you want to comment on. We were looking for a way to easily share protocols between different groups in the institution. This software solved this issue perfectly. We were able to assign different groups access levels which allowed them to edit only their section of protocols. We were previously using MS Word to store protocols and we realized how cumbersome this process was. The benefits are that all the work orders, protocols, results, etc. can now be stored within one database. Also, we can easily link to external systems such as Excel to have extra information about our samples. iVention is easy to use, has a great customer support and is very flexible. I like that the system is able to be used in many different ways. I dislike that the system is not as user friendly as other systems. I also dislike that you cannot use the system in a cloud environment. I am solving the problem of keeping track of all of our laboratory tests and results.
