The pipe rupture occurred when the exhaust hangers rusted leaving the pipe unsupported. I didn't realize the severity of the separation until I wire brushed the area in preparation for an extra kit I bought to wrap the area before pinching. The case was well made and fit my project. It was difficult to find the main crack area after it was wrapped in a repair kit I bought separately. I think the sleeve could have been placed a little further back than I said. Anyway, the gap is sealed and looks like it will buy me some time before having to spend $300 to replace the muffler the muffler shop pointed me towards.
