As an allergy sufferer I've invested in several of these air purifiers to see if they help (mixed results so far). But one thing that has become apparent is that size matters in these units - you have to move a lot of air to be of use; and the amount of air moved depends on the size of the air intake, the area of the filter, the speed and power of the fan. I have been disappointed with some of the units that I have purchased as they are smaller than they appear in the product photos. The opposite happened with this unit - I was expecting a smaller desktop machine, but it's actually a solid, chunky floor model that moves a lot of air thanks to the 3-speed fan. The filter appears to be somewhat porous, but there may be extra filtering capacity inside, increasing the filtering capacity. The UV sterilization feature is a nice touch; But I'm wary of a number of imported products that have UV LEDs that are good for curing nail polish but aren't of the right wavelength to actually sterilize pathogens. Basically I am satisfied with this device. I use it in my kitchen which seems to be an allergen source because I always sneeze when I go there. So far it hasn't mattered much; but I reserve the right to judge until I have some more usage time.
