Decent speaker with some design flaws NOT with amplifier

This is a well designed speaker that offers good frequency response and speech clarity. The listing indicates it is reinforced ie requires a separate power supply which is NOT (model BC15). It is fully controlled by the radio it is connected to. Two design flaws: 1) There is no strain relief on the speaker cable as it exits the cabinet. In 15 months of exclusive use in the doors as part of my ham radio shack I have had to unsolder the speaker wires from the circuit board so I can cut the cracked and exposed wires right where the wires exit the case. . This does not qualify it as a "strong and durable design" in my book. The fact that the plastic cracked so early in its use tells me it's cheap quality. 2) The mounting bracket attachment points are not positioned properly so that they maintain their center of gravity (unless you intend to permanently mount the bracket). surface) and the device wants to fall face down. Yes, the bracket is intended for installation, but if you work in different rooms of the house, the bracket is not suitable for self-assembly. A small but significant problem. Unlike some noise-cancelling speakers, this is not just a switch with increased resistance that only dampens the overall sound, but actually cleans up the sound by slightly reducing the volume. Good speaker, just needs some tweaking.

Pros
  • The Uniden BC15 is fully compatible with all radios that support 3.5mm audio jacks. Installation with the BC15 is quick and easy, in fact the hardest part will be finding your preferred installation location.
Cons
  • Faulty
