Description of ๐Ÿ”ˆ Uniden (BC15) Bearcat 15-Watt External Communications Speaker - Durable Rugged Design, Ideal for Enhancing Uniden Scanners, CB Radios, and Other Communications Receivers, in Sleek Black

The Uniden Bearcat BC15 15 Watt Communication Speaker is an external accessory speaker that offers enhanced audio from CBs, Ham Radios, and Scanners. Rugged and durable enough for any mobile application. The Uniden BC15 is a great looking speaker with a two-toned black and silver face-plate. The BC15 external communication speaker features 15 watts of max power and the BC15's built in noise blanker helps to reduce electrical interference that other manufacturer's accessory speakers allow to bleed through. The Uniden BC15 is fully compatible with all radios capable of accepting 3.5 mm audio plug in connectors. Installation is quick and easy with BC15, in fact the most difficult part will be in locating your preferred mounting location. Mount the BC15 communication speaker, plug in the 10 foot speaker wire to the speaker jack on your radio, and enjoy crystal clear audio output. If your mobile two-way radio happens to be mounted in a difficult to reach location the right angled 3.5 mm audio plug on the BC15 will make it easier to get connected to the radio. No more cranking your radio all the way up just to hear the conversation!.

I wish the quality and sound level (volume) were better.

This particular model (BC15) is not what I was hoping for. Compared to my RoadPro RPSP-15, the BC15 sounds dirtier and not as loud as the RoadPro or the radio's built-in speaker. On the one hand I probably should have gone for an amplified model, on the other hand I'm concerned that the sound quality of the active BearCat is the same as the BC15.

Pros
  • No more turning on the radio at full volume just to hear a conversation!
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

Good Sound Best in Portable Audio/Video

I bought this external speaker to work with Uniden Pro505XL CB radio. The sound is clear and loud, the volume almost does not increase. If I turn the volume down even halfway, my ears bleed. I have a CB and speaker in the trunk of my 2010 Toyota Tundra pickup. Both fit perfectly without drilling or physical installation. When the bracket is attached to the speaker, the bracket fits into the groove and holds the speaker securely. I am happy with this speaker.

Pros
  • The Uniden BC15 is a great speaker with a two tone black and silver bezel.
Cons
  • too stupid

Rugged design, great value

I don't normally write product reviews but I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality of this little speaker, especially considering the price. It feels solid. I use it with a Midland 75-822 and the sound quality and volume are good - better than that radio's small built in speaker. While the Noise Blanker button helps reduce static and background noise a bit, that little help combined with more volume and overall sound quality makes CB monitoring more comfortable in my dedicated mobileโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Install the BC15 communications speaker, connect the 10ft speaker cable to your radio's speaker jack and enjoy crystal clear sound.
Cons
  • New Competitors Arrive

Supplied with 3.5mm STEREO plug

Can't comment on the sound quality yet, but I think it will be great. I was disappointed to find that they come with a 3.5mm stereo plug (i.e. 2 "tracks" on the pin, not 1 MONO track). I bought 2 for a ham radio installation and the speakers don't work. After replacing the old speaker with a radio I found that both radios are fine, they just don't work with Bearcat stereo plugs. Adapters are cheap - tomorrow I'm in the mood. The description says NOTHING about plugs and for this application Iโ€ฆ

Pros
  • The BC15 external communications speaker has a maximum power output of 15W, and the BC15's built-in noise canceller helps reduce electrical noise that optional third-party speakers let through.
Cons
  • Not sure

Decent speaker with some design flaws NOT with amplifier

This is a well designed speaker that offers good frequency response and speech clarity. The listing indicates it is reinforced ie requires a separate power supply which is NOT (model BC15). It is fully controlled by the radio it is connected to. Two design flaws: 1) There is no strain relief on the speaker cable as it exits the cabinet. In 15 months of exclusive use in the doors as part of my ham radio shack I have had to unsolder the speaker wires from the circuit board so I can cut theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • The Uniden BC15 is fully compatible with all radios that support 3.5mm audio jacks. Installation with the BC15 is quick and easy, in fact the hardest part will be finding your preferred installation location.
Cons
  • Faulty

It serves its purpose, nothing more and nothing less.

In order to record transfers from the SDS100 scanner directly to a computer, I have to use the scanner's 3.5mm jack. However, when I use the phone jack, I no longer hear transmissions through the scanner's internal speaker. So I needed a cheap external speaker. Uniden offers three unamplified speaker options, with the BC15 being the mid-range model. This is a 15 watt speaker that isn't particularly powerful but does the job it was designed to do. I use a speaker in my home and it has the rightโ€ฆ

Pros
  • The Uniden Bearcat BC15 15W Communications Speaker is an external auxiliary speaker that provides improved sound quality from CB, Ham Radio and Scanners. Strong enough and durable enough for any mobile application.
Cons
  • Only available in black

Pros
  • If your walkie-talkie is installed in a hard-to-reach place, the 3.5mm right-angle audio jack on the BC15 makes it easy to connect to the radio.
