Review on Garmin Speed and Cadence Sensor 2 Bundle: Premium Bike Sensors for Speed and Pedaling Cadence Monitoring by Jeff Addison

Installation Issues and Calibration

This product was received and the speed sensor was very easy to install; However, the cadence sensor was very disappointing. My grip on my Trek has a deep groove which makes this item difficult to put on. I ended up having to fill the groove with something to make the cadence sensor flat enough to attach a strap. I was afraid my foot would hit the strap and come off, but that hasn't happened yet. I have used this on Zwift and my Garmin fenix 5 and Zwift will ask you for tire type/size to calibrate. Pairing it with a Garmin device doesn't prompt you to calibrate, and when I took my first trip the Delta was huge. A 9 mile ride in a calibrated Zwift only showed 6 miles on Garmin Connect. Obviously my fault, but it's important that you go into your speed sensor to put in your tire size. Mine was set to automatic and was far from ideal. So far I'm very happy with the purchase, having used Garmin pedometers and a heart rate monitor I settled on the Garmin native devices that work with my watch. I recommend these devices, but be prepared for connection issues with the cadence sensor and don't forget to manually enter the wheel size into the speed sensor after the first connection.
