My water contains about 200 ppm dissolved solids. The zero water filter that came with the original purchase lost effectiveness after about 7 gallons and showed 3 ppm. After 20 gallons the reading was 8 ppm (not a big deal and the water still tasted fine). At 21 gallons the reading was 85 and I switched to an Icepure filter. It started at 5ppm at 9 gallons and is currently reading 18ppm at 17 gallons. I suspect this will be unacceptable in the next gallon or two. So I got 20 gallons of acceptable water with a zero water filter and will probably get 18 gallons of acceptable water with an Icepure filter. So they're about the same within a gallon or two, and Icepure filters are cheaper, so they're probably better overall. What I don't like about the Icepure filter is that it creates an airlock every time the filter dries up. To clear the blockage, I tap with a blunt object, e.g. B. the handle of a table knife, on top of the filter.
