Review on πŸ”§ Revitalize Your Driveway with Elastomeric Emulsion Crack Filler by Anthony Savage

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Difficult to use and very dirty. Looks and acts like resin. Performance is so-so.

While this product isn't bad, we didn't find it as useful as the other product we bought. It's very messy to use - wear gloves! - and tends to harden and clog the spout. We had to keep stopping to clean the nozzle. Also, the bottle features an inverted spout, meaning you have to fish it out of the sticky black interior before you can use it. You can imagine what a mess that is! My main complaint is the mess and inconvenience of using this product. In terms of performance, it's difficult to get crack filler where it needs to be, and it lands everywhere. This is mainly because you need to cut the nozzle down to a wide enough tip so that it doesn't constantly clog and stick together. Unfortunately this makes the flow rate out of the bottle very fast! We ended up with strips that were one inch wide and covered a quarter inch cracks. The product cures to a black, semi-gloss finish so it doesn't really blend in with the surrounding asphalt. (The instructions assume you plan on painting over it after application.) There are other products that don't require this step and look pretty good on their own. our cracks from breaking again. We have previously used a stiffer compound but realized our cracks needed some flex which led us to try this 'elastomeric' product. Unfortunately, this did not work and the cracks reappeared in their old places after the mass had hardened. It's not a scam - it basically does what it claims with some caveats - and might work fine for some people in some apps, but I won't be using it again.
