Review on AIRCARE MAF2 Replacement Wicking Humidifier by Robby Fingaw

I purchased an Essick humidifier 5 or more years ago and have purchased replacement kits several times. Knowing in advance that this device, like many other products that require filter replacement, would require a filter change, I knew I wanted to develop a filter cleaning and reuse system. I use a humidifier ok. 6 months every year and use an average of 3 filters per year. After a week or two I carefully remove the filter (the top is hard and hangs on the water level) and in the meantime use the backup filter. Then I put the filter in a round flower pot the same size as the filter, and then put the filter in place. a secondary perforated basket inside the filter that keeps it in the tank. Fill the TSP tank (or some detergent and hot water). Let it soak, drain and soak in clean water, keeping the shape of the filter. After the final rinse, place near a heat source to dry. Take out the filter when it is dry and it will hold itself tight, clean and as good as new. I reuse many times until the integrity of the filter is broken. I hope this works for those who otherwise feel left out.
