This is a large strainer as you can strain a whole box of cooked pasta in it and it was just what I was looking for. When it's full and about to drain, the handle where it meets the strainer bowl can bend when I shake the noodles inside. I had a similar one once and it lasted about 10 years. When the handle on the bowl joint started to crack, I threw it away and bought this one. This one seems to be stronger, but again it depends on how often you use it fully filled. Fits in the top rack of the dishwasher and cleans well. Also, sometimes thin spaghetti slips through the holes, so I hold the pot underneath when draining the water.
