I HATE plastic "plant" items, but sometimes when I'm decorating them for the holidays it's unavoidable. I chose this topiary as a coat because the preserved boxwood has a long shelf life and is a real plant product. It is great! I ended up returning this item because my customer changed their mind, but they would have been perfect for our original vision. The green started to fade a bit in the 2 weeks I've had them, but overall they've held up very well. With proper storage, they can last for several (or more!) years. When you receive an item, open the box from the bottom to allow it to slide out without lifting the top ball. There will be a few crumbled boxwood leaves, but that's not a problem. They probably fell out during packing and shipping, but you can't tell by the abundance of balls. He didn't shed any further when they put him on the table. I gave it 4 stars because some of the leaves have discolored a bit after a few weeks but overall this is a great product for the price. If that's what you're looking for, then I recommend it!
