Review on LavaLock® High Temp Vision Replacement Correct by Maurice Matlock

Bought this a few years ago to use on my newly purchased grill. However, as the projects progress he falls on his hips and is never seen again until quarantine and some more me time. But instead of using it on the grill, I brought the old smoker back from the dead. I carefully followed the instructions for use and applied tape to seal the firebox and vertical smokebox. The large smoking door was easy as I just had to stick the tape to the inside of the door. The firebox was a bit more difficult as the tape had to run along the edge where the lid meets the box. I didn't find the ribbon to be as easy to cut as the instructions made it out to be. And as soon as the material began to disperse, it was all over. I let it harden for a few days. I checked it out today to find a complete disappointment. As you can see from the photos, when the smoker door was opened, most of the material stuck to the edge of the chamber and broke like a Halloween spider web. I've also attached a photo of the firebox problem where you can see that the trimming (with the Sharp box cutter) didn't go so well. (If this process allows me to attach photos.) Needless to say, I need to remove all of that. Open to suggestions if anyone has had luck with another product.
