Review on 🏷️ Organize with Ease: Brother P-touch PT-H100 Hand-Held Label Maker by Brian Cheney

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Excellent label printer apart from the ribbon and battery waste.

The device works well except for two issues. First, terrible battery life. It uses 6 AAA batteries and blows them through like it's nothing (seems to drain when the device is off, quicker than expected too). Adding to this disappointing fact is a small plastic circle on the bottom of the device, suggesting that other models with the same body are likely to have an additional wall adapter. Batteries run out without warning, often when you go to print, and it stops at the beginning of the label due to the increased current draw, wasting even more ribbon. I wish there was a battery indicator on the screen. My second complaint applies to all Brother label printers: they waste a lot of tape on both sides of the text. Obviously, this is only beneficial to increase profit from band sales. These two issues particularly annoy me because I think about how many AAA batteries and waste tapes end up in the landfill/ocean. I wouldn't mind buying a power adapter separately if they only had a connector on the bottom 80% of the time when I don't need it to be portable. On the positive side, this device is very cheap. Brother TZ tape is extremely durable and most types are laminated (a separate roll of clear tape is pressed over the print!). I go to eBay and buy generic cartridges in bulk for $5 each. They are readily available as TZ cartridges are by far the most common cartridge type in all Brother models.
