This is a great tool for your business, but that's what almost everyone says. I wanted to ensure accuracy by reading many of the less stellar (and older) reviews on the subject. The comments mainly pointed out that the decal on the degree wheel was misplaced, resulting in misalignment errors ranging from half a degree to more than a pair. I decided to buy anyway based on the updates stating that returning a bad one usually results in a better/good one. When I heard a bright "New! Laser precision!β I was expecting to see the degree markings lasered into the metal, but it had the same basic design that had been used for years: the opposing row of printed plastic appliques. I called Starrett to dispute their marketing claims, but the engineer disagreed. He said laser tools are now being used to place markers. I didn't ask him if they use a laser index to apply the same pre-printed sticker, or if they use a laser printing process to print the markings onto the sticker matrix after it's applied. In any case, they obviously made a technological step towards solving problems with accuracy. My protractor has not yet been fire tested on a kitchen remodel, but it has proven to be as accurate as I can measure with my other tools at the store. If your miter saw is set up correctly, I think this tool will give you the solution you need.
