This is a solid and beautiful lamp/figure. A switch at the base of the unit (instead of on the lamp cord) would be nice, but since I'm plugging mine into a switched outlet, the lamp cord switch isn't needed in my application. In my opinion, to make this lamp ideal, you need a small LED with low heat and low light output. The big bulb is too bright (glare), too hot and looks a bit weird to me. I searched for days and finally found a specific lightbulb that was perfect. This is a 1W, S11 size, clear GE LED lamp. It can be found at Lowes - item no. 2492303. I didn't find it at Revain, but it might be there. I think that makes the character really popular. I hope this helps others as the lightbulb does NOT turn on the lightbulb.
