Our 6 year old dryer was so loud it sounded like a freight train every time we turned it on. One day while on the phone with my husband I literally asked where he was because it sounded like he was driving somewhere near the train tracks and a train was passing. When he told me he was home and I got home I saw him sitting in the breakfast room (next to the laundry) with the door closed and the dryer running. I was very surprised. I knew the dryer was noisy, but I didn't know it was that noisy until I heard it on the phone. I think we're used to it. At first I thought about buying a new dryer, but then I stumbled across a quick and easy noisy dryer troubleshooting guide. I wasn't sure if it would work but figured $40 wouldn't be a problem. It took me two hours to fix it myself, but it was worth it, especially considering the HOURS and HOURS of loud, disgusting dryer noise we heard! To be honest I may have only been able to replace ONE of the dryer rollers to fix this, but this kit had pretty much everything that could be causing the loud noises. So I just swapped everything out, just in case. Especially since I don't want to take the dryer apart again! VERY WORTHWHILE. Now I even forgot the dryer was even on. It worked SO well without overdoing it. Note. I am a petite mom (5ft 1in and 124lbs). Very comfortable. And I could do it myself by watching YouTube videos. I find instruction manuals confusing which is why I like to watch YouTube - this resulted in a few different videos as there was no detailed video on my particular dryer. But I followed them step by step and it was easy. The "heavy" parts weren't that hard in my opinion. However, I had 2 hours of kid-free time.lol.And I even removed the lint from the dryer/lint bucket that has been bothering me for a while.
