I love this very stylish, light and adaptable fan. What makes it adaptable is its use of horizontal or vertical space. The buttons on the fan have a soft feel, similar to touching the iPad screen. That means the keys don't need to be pressed hard at all, just lightly tapped. I could see this being a great benefit for a person with terrible arthritis in their hands to be able to operate this fan easily. There are 3 speed levels, it works very quietly. I would describe the noise as a low hum. Looking at the fan, the grille catches the eye, which can be divided into three parts along the length. Two-thirds of this area is dedicated to the air intake, leaving only one-third focused on actual outside airflow. This is not a problem as this small fan provides sufficient airflow. All air is directed in one direction. Some may find this a disadvantage as this fan does not oscillate. What can be done if they don't have much space on a small table is rotate the fan at its base to direct the airflow to where they need it. This fan must be plugged into either a USB port or a power outlet in order for it to work. A power adapter (plug) is included with the USB cable, which is a plus since you don't have to buy one or use the one that charges your phone, for example. The fan is small enough that I can imagine packing it in my suitcase to go on a trip. The fan is black so I can imagine dust getting on it. A damp cloth will easily solve this problem. The stand is silver colored and part of the stand can be removed/replaced to position the fan horizontally or vertically as a tower fan. There is a small amount of orange at each end. I personally wish the orange wasn't there, but that's certainly not a deal breaker for me. The biggest downside for me is that I don't understand how to clean the fan blades. The manual says to use the brush attachment on the vacuum cleaner to remove accumulated dust. Finally, the device is covered by a 1-year warranty. I am very happy with my purchase of this Sharper Image fan and am considering purchasing one of the larger Sharper Image tower fans given how well it performs and how quiet it is. I believe that most people who buy this fan will be satisfied with the product.
