The fan in my switch has been making quite a bit of noise for a while and I have no idea why it started. I take very good care of my Switch so this was very frustrating to see. It has recently started to deteriorate and was very noisy when shifting into high gear which was a bit worrying as it may have caused irreparable damage from the noise alone. So I contacted Nintendo and they said it would cost $100 + shipping to fix (no guarantee). One caveat: Not only do they claim to fix the problem you're reporting, but anything else they can find to bring it back to their defaults. Take it for what it's worth (or not worth). So I was looking for alternatives and someone on Reddit suggested this kit. It was $20 with free return, why not? I built my own desktop, but I don't consider myself a hardware expert. The seller's instructions are average. Do more research and watch some videos before you start. The worst (as per other reviews) are the screws. The screws in the switch are very small which makes them very prone to stripping, be very careful and do it slowly. Use the rubber band hack whenever possible! (Put a rubber band over the screw, it will fill in any gaps/gaps from the stripping). It's not the seller's fault. However, I would like the screwdrivers that came with it to have larger handles so you could operate the levers better. The only other (minor) complaint about the kit itself is the piece of plastic used to open the latches inside the switch. It's a fairly thick piece of plastic, so it's pretty hard to squeeze it in where you want it. I wish there was a thinner piece to make this part easier. Other than that I was able to successfully disassemble everything, replace the fan and reassemble everything with no losses (I think!). Will definitely be back to update this if anything goes wrong but so far so good.
