Review on πŸ” Enhanced Accuracy of Supco LIT6P Infrared Thermometer: A Comprehensive Review by Eddie Duncan

Works well over short distances

I haven't had a chance to really calibrate it against a known good thermometer, but it seems to work well for my purposes. As far as I can tell it's fairly accurate when using a probe, although it's good for nothing other than hand measurements. For example I use this in a darkroom and while I'm setting up the chemistry I can't just leave it in my prom while I adjust the temperature because it's an odd shape and VERY heavy top. The controls are fairly simple - a small yellow button toggles between F and C measurements (degrees C by default when on). The "Scan" button at the top activates the IR thermometer and takes readings almost instantly. A release button would also be much more ergonomic. Overall, the digital folding chemistry probe works well and feels fast and accurate. As for IR, I've found these readings are VERY different when measuring liquids. I'm not sure if this is common with all IR thermometers or similar. But it's pretty good for basic HVAC measurements etc. Added bonus: when I'm not taking measurements dogs like to chase the laser.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
