Not sure if the tool was faulty or not (didn't look like it) but it didn't work. Of course, you can attach a tool to the air conditioner service ports and get a tool to grab and loosen the valve core. The problem, however, is that when you try to remove it, it doesn't remain in the tool's "claw" and doesn't come out when the shank is pulled out of the service hole. Tried countless times but just couldn't get the valve core out of the port. Very disappointing as the tool itself seemed to be of decent quality so I wanted it to work. But I was forced to return it.
