Regionless DVD players at a great price.

I bought this DVD player with no regional restrictions to watch UK DVDs. So, first things first: This player works as advertised. It plays DVDs from outside the US without having to enter any settings, devices or codes. The second issue for me is that a lot of the old UK series I watch were recorded during the VHS era when lower resolution and reduced color shouldn't make a difference. The video images from back then cannot be optimally displayed on today's large screens with HDR and 4K support. But they can be reproduced with clarity and color that are easy to see and produce no distracting effects when zoomed to 1080p. I compared Sandoo's high-definition upscaling to my Panasonic 4K Blu-ray player's upscaling. (Sandoo comes with an HDMI cable.) I'm no video expert, but in my opinion the clarity of this player's output (set to 1080p output) is indistinguishable from that of my more expensive machine. As the reviewer notes, the player controls don't allow me to toggle between 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios. So if I'm playing a show that was made in 4:3 and I want to watch it in that native aspect ratio on my widescreen TV, I adjust the aspect ratio on the TV itself to avoid "stretching" the picture. All in all, this is the real deal. It does what it says on the tin at an amazing price.
