Review on πŸ”ͺ Shun DM0816 Hinoki Cutting Board, Medium: Enhance Precision and Style in Your Kitchen by Rachel Lott

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Beautiful board for the kitchen and dining room

We purchased several Japanese knives and needed a board that was compatible with the tough steel they are made of use. We didn't want to maintain an endboard and rubber boards are too expensive at the moment. This board ticks all the boxes with a good balance of cost, quality and maintainability. Overall a good lightweight cutting board that is easy to maintain. Knife blade also for harder steels to avoid breakouts. The board has a hinoki scent, so if you don't like that smell, you might not like this board. It's a very light board, which is good as my wife didn't want to lug a heavy piece of wood around the kitchen. The large board was about the same size as the large plastic board we were using and large enough to replace our main all-purpose board. Dampen the board before use and wash immediately afterwards. Not a deal breaker, just something you'd notice if you were more careful about these things. We are very happy with the board and will buy another if needed.
