Review on SOMA 10-Cup Water Filter Pitcher: Pure and Refreshing Hydration for Healthy Living by Kim Gilbert

I am writing about problems with the Soma water filter. This is a 10 cup carafe that I purchased from Revain in July 2017. I have changed filters several times and signed up for a 60 day filter replacement program through Soma. I have problems: 1. mold; and 2. very slow filtering. The carafe seems to be permanently moldy and keeps appearing despite frequent cleaning. This weekend I found a patch of black mold between the filter and the plastic part that holds the filter that I couldn't even remove by soaking in bleach. See photo below. At this point I no longer believe this decanter is safer for my family so I will not be using it again. The second problem I have is related to slow filtering. The device takes a long time to filter the water and the water stays at the top of the carafe for a very long time, making it difficult to pour the filtered water out of the carafe. When you try to water, the filtered water doesn't separate from the unfiltered water, so it all comes out together and you have to wait until the entire amount is filtered before watering. It also spills very easily when poured.
